Air Quality measurements trigger action

In the Netherlands, air quality is usually measured by the RIVM. They use a small amount of highly accurate and expensive sensors. The situation in the rest of the Netherlands is extrapolated using this data.

LinkThings has developed a cheap AQI Device to collect a great amount of AQ data, which in turn gathers a huge amount of local data. With big data, it will be possible to steer traffic in cities and villages around schools and hospitals and such when smog is predicted or poor air quality is detected. “Dirty” diesel cars can be encouraged to avoid city centres based on the locally gathered real-time data.
